What would you choose a CMS MINI versus a CMS PERF? |
| Answer: |
|
CMS-MINI is a small format PC limited to 6 accounts for access right management and advised to support up to 40 players. For customers who will run their own small signage network, this will suffice.
CMS-PERF is a more robust rack-mount 2U server, has no limitations for access right management and is capable of handling for up to 250 players. CMS-PERF is definitely more suitable for hosting services.

| Question: |
|
Is there any limitation to differenting content between several SMPs in a group? |
| Answer: |
|
Currently all players belonging to a group have to follow the same playlists and schedules created on CMS. There is no possibility within a group to let different players play different playlists and schedules from each other. If you need to do so, you need to create one group per player. This should be changed in 2010Q1 with a new way to manage playlists and schedules within a group.
Please note that you currently can enable some areas (video 1 and pictures slide show 1 for example) to get the playlists and schedules from CMS while you can disable this feature for other area (video 2 and ticker text for example). In that configuration you can, within one group which contains multiple players, have the same playlists and schedules on all players for video 1 and pictures slide show 1 while video 2 and ticker text can be different on every player as managed via the player UI directly. You can like this within a group manage content and zones both centrally and locally.

| Question: |
|
How do I update content on the SMPs? |
| Answer: |
|
SMPs pull the content from CMS - we usually talk about content synchronization as if you add content on the CMS, it is added on SMP. If you remove content on CMS, it is removed on SMP
If you have 15 folders on CMS, every of them linking to players and if you need to have the same content on every folder, you need to put content in every folder one by one. You may have some tools to copy all your files into all the folders at the same time but this is not yet offered as one of CAYIN feature. Please note however that on 2010Q1, we will probably have the "master folder" function as standard feature. This will allow to create links between a master folder and other folders.

| Question: |
|
Do I have Access Right Management on the CMS and SMPs? |
| Answer: |
|
Only available via CMS.
With PRO series, you can limit the access to groups (again one group could be one player only or 200 or more). Within a specific group or specific groups, you can limit the access to specific features (streaming, emergency...) and specfic zones (ticker, picture...)
With WEB series, you can limit the access to groups (again one group could be one player only or 200 or more). Within a specific group or specific groups, you can limit the access to specific features (streaming, emergency...) and web playlist

| Question: |
|
How do I see the SMP client list? |
| Answer: |
|
As soon as, in the UI of SMP, you enable the content synchronization from CMS (and added the right info: IP/host name, password), the SMP will automatically be listed on CMS client list even if no content has been synchronized yet and even if the SMP are not getting playlists and schedules from CMS

| Question: |
|
Can I stream content to the SMPs? |
| Answer: |
|
All our SMPs can receive streaming via CMS server. CMS offers up to DVD quality streaming so it is advised that players and server are in the same LAN when performing streaming. The protocol we used if called RTB but actually it is based on UDP. If you use a VLC software installed on your PC for example, you can receive the stream from CMS.

| Question: |
|
How else do the CMP and SMPs communicate with each other? |
| Answer: |
|
CMS and SMP communicate very regularly in a push way. This is not related to content update. Here we talk about CMS pushing the scheduled SKIN and playlists/schedules to the SMPs (so that if the network is down, the SMPs still play according to the server schedules). We now have an option on all SMP to control the frequency of communications between SMPs and CMS as in some cases, the regular communications increase the bandwidth consumption.
